How can you mourn a man you've never met?
A name-less, face-less figure.
A man that means everything
And meant nothing
A man whose voice you never heard
This man, you assume, had potential
He had a family - a wife; a mother; a son
People who have been left behind
Bereft.
I know I am not family.
But, in his absence
I myself have lost potential:
To be this man's enemy,
This man's friend.
I feel lost
I feel loss
Inexplicable, yet
Present in my thoughts. I Grieve
For all the memories I could have had and
The touch I might have felt and
The love,
The love I have not lost
Rest In
Peace, anonymous male
Here's to all that will never be.
I could not write you a requiem
