Seaside rock

Seaside rock is a favourite treat
It’s big and crunchy and tasty to eat
But whatever the flavour every one
Has a different seaside label on
Proper rock has letters right through
A very clever thing to do
Eat the name of the town with every bite
Advertising that’s been done just right
Every colour has a different flavour
Peppermint pink most places favour
Black and white stripes a humbug means
There’s also yellow, purple and green
Edinburgh that’s built on granite rock
Sells rock that is soft, a bit of a shock
When eaten it’s really beyond belief
It ought to be hard and break your teeth
I’ve eaten Australian rock, a very dark blue
Home grown rock from Ramsgate too
Australian sticky from a firm called Yummy
Has passed down my throat and into my tummy
Some labels are small and hard to see
But all of them are of interest to me
Collecting ephemera is the name of the game
A complete collection is my aim
I want these labels so wherever you go
Please eat the rock but remember to show
Me the picture of where you’ve been
It might be a label I’ve never seen
----OOOO----
