Giselle

I catch a glimpse, a story past,
A shadow in a dream that haunts;
I walk awake, afraid at last,
The night has come to take me.
And yet I pass, now not alone,
Beneath skies overdue.
Blackness falls beyond the night
That lead all lies to you.
I see her not, tread on in spite,
Wander till the moon is ripe.
Catching glimpses, yet it seems,
This vision is the voice of dreams.
But sense I do, ahead of me
Footsteps from the lonesome She;
Take the path, remain apart,
Defend my only mortal heart.
She wanders to the water's edge,
Again loses the tears she shed,
Pulling pearls from silken sleeves,
Crying to the fallen trees.
A wedding dress...this stolen bride,
A woman who'd long died inside;
Death by broken heart, it goes;
Dead and still the forest knows.
But she is gone without a trace,
Too soon taken by night's embrace.
Until the moon will rise again,
Giselle is but a tale to men.
