What Drudgery!

What drudgery, this melody!
Unmarried night, 'I do'
Be gone the day, all light away
We wed beneath the moon.
What drudgery, sweet melody?
Unmarried day, I too
But be gone night, twilight away
We wed beneath the blue!
Oh glory! Stars I see you smile
Deny me not my due
Here take me fake thy remedy
For daylight is untrue.
What memory, sweet remedy
Sing not but love me do?
The day must come! The night unsung
Is dangerous to you.
But danger does not sleep I hear
And day he wills undone
The morn can come my moonlight son
Will blossom in his fear.
What sweet and sweeter melodies
Sing but don’t love me true?
I’ll wake but if the sun we see
His tries have been too few.
What drudgeries, sweet melodies
I once denied of you
No memories, nor remedies
From love can lie untrue.
