Nestling in an ancient grove
protected by nature's own...
the winged one watched as
the oriental sunset drifted
over the valley far below,
her eyes were bright as the
pools of glistening...jewelled
water...past times reflected in
her eternal memories, warming
the spirit that she holds close...
high over the misty mountains
her companion flies and soars,
a tasty fine piece of meat...for
soon his family will be complete,
soon a hatchling to appear
a baby dragon cries a tear,
for the Chinese new year
that her people hold dear.

Oh this is lovely, Jenny...and I'd no idea it was the Chinese New Year, so I'm really pleased you posted this.
Love the bit about the 'baby dragon, by the way, but my favourite stanza, this:-
"her eyes were bright as the
pools of glistening...jewelled
water...past times reflected in
her eternal memories, warming
the spirit that she holds close..."
Much enjoyed.

There's nothing wrong with
There's nothing wrong with that at all Jenny. It's lovely and I really like the Chinese slant. Big smile from me.
