Steeples, metal-dull and tower
stand like lashes
Long o'er guarding
Eyes of walls-
Some prayers are answered,
some not at all-
They of the prayers are showered
And fed and kept well
(as well as well regarded)
And promptly punished for their sins-
So the binding marches never ends
nor locks upon the cells-
And the tears the walls never see
Are the prayers they never tell-
