A Poem and More

I’m in a love with a dream,
sloppy pants and farmer boots,
got to wear socks on a day
such as this
when mosquitoes bite it does
not make me happy,
some victims take a swig of gin,
I soak myself in deet.
If a wild heart is stilled
dawn comes like a
whispering shadow, the sky
ablaze with promise of summer
I come alive in the dance
in the glory of the daffodils,
in the loon’s melodic cry
in the red embers of a sleeping sky.
And I live. I live, in spite of mosquitoes
who come to bite.
