Seen – from my window
two hares – boxing
on Easter Day.
Ears – pert as nipples
of an early bather
in the cold, north sea.
Bolt upright, they sit.
Pensive...planning
their next move
amongst the green
of the fields
and of the trees
the blueness of the sky
and the brownness
of their coats
both, drowning, almost,
deep amongst the yellow
of mustard-seed rape.
And then they spar
‘neath a milky-moon
like half a dinner-plate
and when they’re through...
disappears Spring, too
over the hill and far away
as the dish will always
run away
with the spoon.

Great poem about Easter bunnies or 'hares' to be exact. I love the 'ears as pert as nipples of an early bather in the north sea.' Priceless!

Lovely observation Tina. Really enjoyed. Bittersweet spring - beautiful but swift. Very unbecoming behaviour for goddesses though.

Tina, You've done it again.
Tina,
You've done it again. Absolutely loved this. How you capture in words what you see and the rest of us don't seem to notice is phenomenal. I won't bother going outside to see Spring I'll just read one of your poems.
For me your poems are like paintings but using words instead of brush strokes.
Magnificent!
