Seated in the king cross concourse
watching people here of course
waves come in and then they go
hustle bustle to and fro

carefully steering bags and cases
all mixed genders ages and races
bewildered looks show confusion
some are meeting some are greeting

shopping bags from various stores
mine is Selfridge’s what is yours
Harrods, Westwood, Waterstones that gets some looks
isn’t that the place that sells books

the tanoy delivers the departure news
the time the platforme your stop to choose
make your way with boarding card
the machine takes ticket but wont let you pass

that’s a right royal pain in the arse

suited and booted business types
rich man, poor man, beggar and thief
monitored by the security sheath
policeman,security man and camera crew
all to protect me and you

the evening standard given free
Kate and wills the headline news
