Christmas Stars

Puffs of icing sugar, spilt on
the sleeves of a new black jumper
Shining washed silver pans
catching in the light of the dark kitchen
White envelopes from the past falling
through the letter boxes of the present
Forgotten tinsel lost in the loft
of the house now sold
Paw prints in the frost of a
hundred prowling Toms
Roasting chestnuts too hot
to pick up off the grate
Pent up tears letting out
the late night
The infinite pull of a cracker
with a joke we don't quite get yet
A wash of lost betting slips on
the odds for a white morning
Flickering televisions in sitting rooms playing
endless reruns
Rows of lit trees filling bay windows
pitched on dark seas of Winter
These are Christmas stars...

Such a mixture of memories.
Such a mixture of memories. Liked
'Rows of lit trees filling bay windows
pitched on dark seas of Winter' particularly.
