Apples and Pears are free
on the socialist tree;
bright little birds are housed
in her broad, sturdy boughs;
they weave pretty green nests
from leaves in which she’s dressed
and chirp the happy tune
of their songbird commune.

Thanks, Esther. I'd written lots of angry anti-thatcherite poems following Margaret Thatcher's death but people don't really seem to like angry Well-Wisher and so I wanted to write a happy pro-socialist poem rather than an angry anti-capitalist one. Glad you enjoyed it.
