Mankind was once a flower;
one that gave nature such joy
but then his love turned sour
and he devoured and destroyed.
Now Mankind’s a rapacious weed
and her garden’s overrun
and everywhere he spreads his seed
he spreads desolation.
But Man could be her flower again
with his intellect so bright;
be her beloved race of men
and not some monstrous blight.
If he could just remember
how he once felt in his heart
for her then, from the embers
of old hate, new love could start.
