Power and Status 3

There are, of course, entry barriers to the upperclass. People who want to enter are more or less required to donate to universities. People are also required to show a proper respect for the environment. Military service was one way to climb to the upperclass. J.F.Kennedy's father served in the Navy and so did J.F. Kennedy. Colin Powell also served in the military. But I do not really want to talk about entry barriers to the upperclass or why East Asians think that they should be so easily accepted by the American upperclass. First of all, you cannot really generalize about the American upperclass because it is so diverse and complex. I will really just talk about the upperclass people that I like, but before I do that, I will speak about the upperclass people I don't like. I will call them "Sunshine, green lawn upperclass people." These people are always talking about going to Maine on vacation, sending their kids to a college with 2 golf courses, and sports. They literally bore me to death. I also couldn't care less about Yachts, etc. The kind of upperclass people in "Blue Bloods," I couldn't care less about. Hollywood celebrities, although some interest me, most leave me indifferent. So what kind of upperclass people am I interested in? The kind of upperclass people portrayed in Picasso. Very complex women with faces that reveal nothing. They could be boddissattvas or plotting your destruction and you wouldn't know it. Some are Medusas almost and their faces have turned to stone. They hide their emotions and contempt so well. They speak simple words that drop into your soul and refresh you. They are passionate about justice when something happens to a family member. The funny thing is... there is a sense in which everything is permissible in an upperclass environment, but there is an obvious distaste towards certain East Asians. First of all, I think some upperclass people see Asians as oversexed. Certainly, in the Emmanuel films, this point of view is presented. Also, I think some upperclass people eroticize or fetishize Asians. Some of Picasso's women are also intensely emotional and break down and the picture plane breaks down. The men are also emotionally distant. Sometimes they sleep with supermodels. Sometimes they sleep with other women who may bring a political or social advantage. There are women who are also like Mogdaliani paintings. They have souls but their eyes have been gauged out because they no longer care about the world. But what's obvious about these upperclass people is that they don't give a damn about America anymore.
