A Misplaced Coma

Where did you leave it last?
I can't remember. That's the point.
Sharp and unignorable like
a hideous stranger on a bus.
Or a boil full of poisonous puss. Meow.
I don't even know what they're for
Anymore. Anymore. Anymore?
Why did you hold it so dear?
Was it fear? I guess it was
Though guessing's all I've got to go on
When lying here, shot.
A life is exactly that
A momentary pause or link in a rusty chain
That is too easily lost in the rain
And rules will come down like
Your blood balloons
Into these empty roofless houses
Into these empty rooms without walls.
I'll give you a call if it's the last thing that I do. I do. I do.
