The Mistlethrush flies here and there
and wherever it goes,
in the branches of trees appear
bunches of mistletoe.
Now you might say “It’s just a bird
and surely not aware”
but I think that it knows
its spreading kisses everywhere.
(A common British garden bird that gets its name from the fact that it feeds on and spreads the seed of mistletoe*)
