It is said that smoking,
-a fact worth noting-
will make someone ill
and ultimately kill.
So  it must be a sham
to claim Parma ham
was cured by smoke.
Or is it a joke?

Neat one, a bit 'Biggus' like! I think the answer is this English language, but I suppose each language has their oddities! Rhiannon

You are quite right, Rhiannon, there are peculiarities in every language and when I come across something that strikes me as odd I like to exploit it in a doggerel like this one. Thanks for commenting.

Loved this Luigi, short and sweet but wholly satisfying,  like a chocolate profiterole!  Only one thing I'd suggest, making the last line stand alone and finish 'smoke' with a full stop. So it would read -

'...cured by smoke.

Or is it a joke?'

Just a thought though, entirely up to you.

Much obliged for your feedback Stuart. I thought I had put a full stop after 'smoke' (hence the capital letter on the following line)  but your observation made me look again and noticed its absence. I shall see to it right away. Thanks for pointing it out.
