Statement (It's not exactly personal etc.)

Greetings readers and fellow literati,
This morning I heard public radio and was cheered(and concerned) to hear of the 'free the water' controversy in Detroit... basically a story about water shut-offs and responding activists... though frankly I was disappointed in the rather disengenous direction the interviewer ultimately decided to take the interview... pretending concern for the young activist facing prison, as if he were some sort of teacher... as if most liberals haven't heard and carefully considered the basic arguments in place.
This is a chaotic society... which could become more chaotic. A certain liberalism is required by enlightened self-interest, though more compellingly by ethical considerations.
Which is a great seg-way for me to clarify thoughts and feelings regarding Trump. I don't terribly sympathize with those who attack Trump simply for being exceptional, charismatic, different etc..
No, rather we take umbrage at the wider conservative narrative, and the simple cheapness it so often upholds. There is no 'national debt.' America is not in debt; We are the wealthiest and most powerful of nations, though our nation state offers very little benefit or protection simply regarding citizenship. There isn't much tax revenue because our state is bare-bones and our ethical obligations largely unmet... but our assets governmental and otherwise are enormous.
I've been on both sides of this class situation. I'm overcome. It's too much for words.
Ending note: Having already voiced my frustration, I should say that I've long enjoyed public radio... that we're all fallible humans. Namaste
