scrapyard
as a child
i saw magpies,
nailed to fencing.
a crude warning
from farmers;
an example set.
now,
i see bumpers,
wheel arches,
bonnets and doors,
bolted to the fencing
of the scrapyard.
a warning
of transience,
an example,
of how even metal dies.
the futility
of clinging to things.
for the will come a time,
of no-things,
when our memories
will be warm,
and peopled
eternal.

yeh, the crows wouldn't pay
yeh, the crows wouldn't pay much attention. My guess is we don't either.
