Thus the Soul spoke.
P K Routray
“Sir the incident is four-decade old, do you remember?
I am the spirit of sagun Mahato, still I wander.
I was innocent and had no hand in the incident.
but to my misfortune I was the victim of the accident.
I loved the world around me and the society.
Because of the job I dreamt a life away from poverty.
After leaving my mortal body I flew to my native village
to see still as a soul if I can solemnize the ensuing marriage.
I as my soul could do nothing, nor could tolerate the sight.
as miserable and wretched was my parents’ plight.
I went to my sweet heart with plethora of love
She never listened to me but looked blank at the sky above.
I tried my best to prove my love and my presence
but utterly failed to communicate because of my physical absence.
I loved my parents and loved my sweet heart
As per my wisdom “True love never falls apart”.
Thus I learnt from my colleagues and superiors
But I was not knowing ” Like man the lord also errs.”
Without my mortal frame, listened me none.
Is man defined by a body made of five elements under the sun?
Tears never stopped rolling from my mother’s eye
Perhaps before their due dates I saw them die.
My fiancée got married to another village youth breaking my heart
Forgot me, lived with her new family as if to her life I was never a part.
Her family had grown, she is a grand mother
Had I been alive I would have been a grandfather.
All these four decades I have been fluttering in ether
as an unsatisfied soul forgotten by my society for ever.”
Hey Lord! You create many saguns on the earth with the cruel fate
Please be sympathetic to ensure that their souls stay in peaceful state.
(N B – It may be read as continuation of my earlier poem “A Soul Sighs” as there the incident of Sagun’s prematured death has been touched upon. )

Maybe it is our remembering
Maybe it is our remembering and feeling regret or guilt that makes souls unable to find peace. This is such a sad poem, specially after reading why he missed the marriage
