Age Concern

Being an old codger of 83
I am glad that the authorities
are so concerned about me
that they propose to make
ageism a heinous hate crime.
I can joyfully say: about time!
I shall be suing with glee
anyone who does refer to me
as an old git or geriatric twit.    

Mind you, before I read this
I wasn't worried one little bit:
such remarks would have been
like water off a duck's back.
As a matter of fact I found
that people treat with care
senior citizens like yours truly
who have grey or white hair
whether combed or unruly.

Enjoyed this tongue-in-cheek twist on it, and your rhyming flow too.

I did wonder if 'that' in line 4 ought to be 'they' - I suppose 'that they' but not both needed, and would make the line too long. Just a thought, it's up to you! Rhiannon

Hello Rhiannon. 
First of all let me say that you are right regarding 'that' in line 4. It must have been a senior moment on my part. I shall redress the situation.

I thought that the proposed legislation on 'ageism' is yet another example of the ever increasing political correcteness and merited a comment which reflects my point of view. Glad that you enjoyed the tongue-in-cheek which is a trademark of mine.
