Tear fill farewell to Dads
P K Routray
Ram! Your grief, we all share
with tear from heart, we offer our prayer
“Hey Lord! Take his noble soul to Your Heaven
pardoning him of his omission and commission
if committed at all, it is for us to thrive and prosper.
Hence please thrust all these burdens on our shoulder.”
With your dad, vanished our dad’s generation
thus perished their cane, love, prayer, and protection.
Cherish I, with tears, my mother’s mourning
“The hairs on your back had started growing”
in the absence of my dad from the house for a few days
with all fickle acts, at books, I refused to gaze
Even when I was grown up and beyond my teen
my fear for him deterred me from the path of obscene.
A mother may be the love incarnate
but the father remains an actor the great.
With love and kindness hiding in his heart
acted, he stonehearted to remove our filth and dirt.
I have seen dads staying with hunger and thirst
so that we are well nurtured and well nursed.
Ram, you were lucky to get an opportunity
to serve your dad in this life when he needed it
Through your dad, our dads got the feel
the grandkids and great grand kids’ thrill.
We all are nursing in our hearts the atonements.
With other burdens, did we neglect our parents?
Hey Lord! Won’t you give us an occasion
they become our progenies and we pay back at least a fraction.”
