Milestones At Maldon Bridge Road

There’s a Boral cement site on the Maldon Bridge Road

that promotes zero harm and uses a moral code  .

When you lead by example , that’s how to earn respect  

Many milestones at Maldon , in concrete have been set   .

I walked around the site there for just a little while

Ando and the mechanics always work with a smile .

Up in the treehouse things break down , time and time again

Cement dust lies thick between the fan belts and the chain .

There’s no slacking off , when it’s as busy as can be    

and most of the workers remain focused and friendly .

There are sand dunes dumped there, that look like miniature cliffs ,

With pallets of cement bags, waiting for some fork lifts..

Between the Mills and pathways Rob looks after the store ,

It looked like it was open so I walked in the door.

I met a mechanic there , who had to work that night ,

The mill had a problem so it had to be put right .

 COVID came to town with lots of fragile messages  .

Good night and goodbye with redundancy packages.  

Farewells with promotions and retirements for the few

From the streets of Maldon and may good luck go with you .
