He asks in the darkening car park
By the puddles of oil-covered rain
I rewound to the bench in the square
To the way his eyes didn’t stop shimmering
How he laughed when I told my stories
Walking new steps through a familiar city

And we held eyes then
As we hold eyes now
In the car park
