Inspired Walk

Remembering our walk on
Wednesday 3rd November 2021.
I love when autumn gives way to winter's
brisk freshness – even scatter of birds are
drawn beyond gentle local cloud spread,
inquisitively they seek plucking moments;
gently tossing various hues in tranquil grass
where we wander, and for me eager poetry
comes alive.
Notice squirrel venture cheekily close to
Magpie; searching for some tasty harvest
with rooting contentment, where sodden
leaves bathe under peeping faint rays,
feast hidden in some forgotten earth or
long ago buried crevice.
Unexpected element of rain drives us on,
the sky broods black and grey; as huddled
walkers loom around corners, I can feel
their contentment.
Of course pavements have their own mystery,
I wonder! What tales they could tell of footsteps
taken and conversations passing.
Greeting us...half caught smiles and relaxed; “Hi!”
With nowhere important to go, those passers by
just focusing on strolling in the here and now.
We were nearing home tired with pleasant glowing
thoughts; realizing we are receptive to all that's
around,
noticing while progressing down meandering
alleyway, a single piece of hope living in
paving crack; searching for light, quite simply
this flower wants to live no matter what.
It gives me hope, uncomplicated – yet a study
complex, makes me realize my fate is to follow
this flower's example and soldier on in life with
sheer determination, no matter what.

I enjoyed your poem Jenny.
I enjoyed your poem Jenny.
Your lines ...
Of course pavements have their own mystery,
I wonder! What tales they could tell of footsteps
taken and conversations passing.
really caught my imagination as I frequently try to imagine the conversations and events that may have taken place down through time in the spots where I wander, particularly abandoned buildings and lonely forests. If only they could tell their tale!
I also liked ...
a single piece of hope living in
paving crack; searching for light, quite simply
this flower wants to live no matter what.
which seems to describe how I see myself battling on during the dark days on the cusp of autumn and winter.
It was really nice to read.

I do sympathise with
I do sympathise with "Unexpected element of rain drives us on," as it started pouring yesterday when I was out :0) You word element gave the rain strength.
Your huge empathy shows again in how you go from feeling the "contentment" of fellow walkers to contemplatng how pavements experience their transient feet, to the roots of a tiny flower, clinging to life, shows determination and beauty even as your poem about your walk grew on your computer screen

Hi Jenny
Hi Jenny
What a lovely poem about a beautiful walk. My daughter and her family came over on Sunday and we went on a lovely walk too. My grandson saw a jay - and that brought up the information that jays are having a problem as the acorn availablility is much less than usual this year. Apparently jays hide thousands of nuts, and can remember where they all are.

Another beautiful poem, Jenny
Another beautiful poem, Jenny. Congrats on the accolades that you received.
My apologies for not being able to keep up with my reading of your stuff, let alone my own writing. I'm just very busy at present. I will be able to come online more in January or so.
