Bunyan’s Battle

In Bunyan’s tale
the Pilgrim fought
a monster hateful
who mocked, made sport
of Pilgrim’s leaving
complacent city
seeing its dnager
and lifestyle dirty.
He fought the lies
with truth, a sword,
and faith, believing
God’s pardon word –
a shield from roars
and accusations;
though bashed and bruised
the persecutions
ceased awhile,
the Monster fled,
and, Pilgrim, comforted,
was onward led.
