Your Mental Health – A Handbook of Sorts
You should not always believe the things that you think
That emotional wave beneath which you sink
is often not exactly what it appears to be.
In your mind a demon ringmaster hides,
a ruminating fiend that often presides.
And feelings you feel may not be what they seem
There is a malevolent game being played out here,
an internal ghoul creating a labyrinth of fear.
But because an idea lingers on, does not mean it is real.
Those voices tell you that you are nothing,
‘You aren’t and can never be enough’ they sing.
But they lie, these great pretenders, how they lie
You are enough, more than precious as you are.
There will be healing, and it may not be that far
Hold on my friend, hold on and hold tight.
You can find your way home, onward, ahead
A new beginning will emerge, a thread
that will weave, repair and restitch.
This road though is not for the faint-hearted.
To reach the end you achieve much; supported.
Get armed to the teeth, find physic and find steel
The fragments you are now, will come back together
Not quite as they were, but will come back together.
You will reform, piece by beautiful piece
And you will be enough. You will always be enough.
