Waiting, in Candlelight

Candles flicker many an hour:
gales so strong, supply of power
broken, cables torn and trees
crash, wind’s rush their branches seize.
Workers striving at the chore
out in storm to mend, restore,
battling in the forces strong
well aware how many long
that a switch flicked as before
bring full light and heat once more,
glad if having some resources:
warmth and light from other sources.

It's about the only nice thing when the power goes off - that you get to use candles - the light is so beautiful isn't it? I hope you didn't have too long to wait until it come back again if it happened to you Rhiannon

No, it didn't happen to us, only a couple of bad momenary stops, though a lot of fence damage. It was susrprisingly strong gales. But I spoke yesterday when we we were up in Wales with two couples who had been off, I think over a day. One had a rayburn, they were farmers, and the other a wood stove, on which they had to heat water. Candlelight is beautiful when you can have it by choice, but I think you would be glad of ordinary light and heat after a time like that! Rhiannon

Yes, but maybe the novelty wears off if It goes on for a day or many days? Certainly hard work for the parents! Rhiannon
