Accidentally succeeding
It started with a series
of unfortunate events,
poor choices, mistakes,
foolish reason on my part.
I was often led
with a head full of dreams,
romantic ideals
barely smarter than my heart.
Friends gone, loves lost,
they weighed up the cost,
or just wouldn't
give me a second glance.
Futile regrets, near misses,
pointless wishes
to undo all the errors,
start fresh - another chance.
Looking back I could feel
that it's foolish and unreal
and I could wonder
if I ever had a clue.
I don't want to change a thing,
don't begrudge the load I'm bearing,
I'm pleased because
my journey's led to you.
I know you feel regrets
and have wishes unfulfilled,
the life you're living now
not what you had dreamed.
But this series of events,
as unfortunate as they seem,
praise fate because
they've led you straight to me.

The rhyme feels really
The rhyme feels really therapeutic, a circle of events turned good.
