Lost

How simply I became lost Directions and maps abandoned with the wink of
a sharp eye That made me stop and clutch my heart For fear of falling.
How quickly myself merged to themselves To himself, and selfish actions
swarmed my world And made a meal of my independence Broken like a glass
hope. A strong force that filled my pores with otherness A scent I was
not familiar with lingered in my hair and misted my eyes Until they
burned, always aflame. Every thought turned to him, a constant rhythm
in my head He tapped away and became all the company I craved. The
blurred battlefield we had warred over, you had won Your need for me
now less than mine for you. 'Kiss me,' I say and the cool cloth of your
lips wraps a blanket round my nagging thoughts to smother them. The
searching question, like a spotlight 'Is this it, love, true consuming
love?' Oh my love for I do love, I do, I do, I do.
