The Year of Seduction - A response

I will not lie with you in the Spring
An urgent need to complete my tax return
Easter eggs to buy and hot, cross bunnies
The spring clean of the home
Trees need pruning and the grass cutting.

I will not lie with you in the Summer
Hay fever and pollen count control my life
The oppressive heat, so muggy and tired
Kids screaming outside, windows flung open
Wasp stings and factor fifty sun cream.

I will not lie with you in the Autumn
Leaves need collecting, bonfires to light
Gutterings to clear, storm damage to repair
Trick or treat and pumpkin brains to scoop out
Fireworks exploding in the spirit of the blitz.

I will not lie with you in the Winter
S.A.D and dripping noses
Amongst the panic of seasonal shopping
Family quarrels and real Christmas trees
Shed needles like my New Year resolutions.
