Farewell, Jonathan.

Jonathan, you have been my mate
Ooh, for about 5 minutes now
But it is time to part ways, my friend
We must be as the proverbial
Twilight boats sailing towards
A new dawn, the grit of nostalgia
Causing our eyes to wee
But only a little.
You see, John
I can't stand the way
You make me walk on the other side
From the Big Issue man
You say he always shouts things at you.
He doesn't.
He does shout
But at everyone-
And the things he shouts are friendly:
The other day he asked me to smile
And I did
And it felt better.
You could do with some of that medicine!
I have seen that sad twitch
Under your eye, Jonathan.
It goes and goes and goes.
Jonathan, we could have made incendiary love-
Both piers would have quaked,
You might even have giggled
Why did you have to be
Such a misanthrope?
No, Jonathan
It can't be helped
We must say goodbye now.
