He comes into the kitchen looking sad. It's not unusual, we are both sad when we get back from taking our child back to the council offices. But it's not the shared kind of sadness. I ask what the matter is. He's been talking to his brother on the phone. Yesterday his dad texted to say he'd had a long phonecall with social work. His dad said they needed to talk. He'd had an email from his solicitor, who'd also had a long phonecall to social work. I seems they were all saying the same thing.
"My brother thinks they will let him live with me, if we split up."
I say the important thing is that our child is with family.
He says it's not fair.
He says he'll let me see our child anytime I want to.
