Seventeen raindrops
Were caught by the spiders web
Under the ivy
~
The kettle boils
As rain patters the window
My daughter giggles
~
Tiny specs of dust
Dance in a shaft of sunlight
As I sweep the floor
~
Slate roofs wet with rain
Houses outside my window
Fresh spring morning
~
Garden after rain
A swarm of happy greenflies
Dance above the grass
~
Summer morning rain
Reminds me of childhood again
Breathe in the fresh air
~
Perennials cast
Crooked shadows across the
Sweltering tarmac
~
Swallows flit and glide
Playfully through twilight skies
The breeze carries dreams
~
Silhouettes of leaves
Fluttering in the spring breeze
Carry me back home
~
The smell of manure
Along with the summer rain
Rich bird song delights
~
Picking the greenfly
From the arm of my t-shirt
With finger and thumb
~
Slapping my ear
With the tips of my fingers
Two slow for the fly
~
Ricochet of ball
Against the brick garden wall
A lazy summer
