Is she Poacher or Gamekeeper?

Can the bartered souls of children
Ever be at rest?
When no one can agree
Just what is best for their
Would-be clockwork minds
And who should turn the key.

The rainforest cull goes on apace.
To fuel the teacher's desk and make
Them busy be.
Fuel tank spent, the teacher carries on
Empty memories of enthusiasm past.

Estelle scorns their weary plea and
Seems to cry "It was much harder for me,
But do you hear me complain?"
Why then, Education Secretary did you leave?

The classroom is a clouded place.
With more initiatives than kids.
Endless schemes to solve the puzzle
Of what to do with little Johnny's tomorrow.

All Westminster's charge can manage
Is a guilt trip for the rest.
'Striking now will kill there future'
But what of the teachers to deliver it?
They aren't waiting for tomorrow.
If they can go, they will leave yesterday.
