Neighbourhood Dogs

In the neighbourhood
were the dogs
black, brown and white
Who ganged up together
to scare the passers-by.
No food no shelter they
wandered here and there.
And then a leader they got
in a bull dog who was a scare.
Searching for their food they went
to the local butcher's shop
and couched outside hungrily
for a morsel which they got.
People drew away their steps
from the meat shop
for this group sat like a pack
of hounds ready to attack.
They sounded the threat
to the butcher’s sale
that annoyed him to such a height,
he took his knife and ran behind
the dogs who fled in fright.
