The noted industrialist Melvin Sen had suffered a terrible cerebral stroke.It was rumoured that his left side was immediately paralysed.The gentleman who was also a writer of bestseller self-help books was immediately hospitalized.In fact he was admitted to the best medical facility in Calcutta-Belle Vue Clinic.The news of the stroke spread like wildfire.Reporters,television crew and assorted well-wishers began to camp outside the gates of the clinic.Melvin Sen owned the steel conglomerate Indian Steel Group.He had plants all over India.And a few in the neighbouring countries.His only known heir was his son Arin.Arin was a dermatologist who worked for an NGO.Presently he was stationed in a distant village.On hearing about his father's sickness he immediately faxed a letter to Belle Vue.He instructed that his father be kept alive for five more days.No one was sure whether young Arin had moral,legal or any kind of authority to order senior medical specialists.
However the newspapers were already assuming that Melvin Sen was dead.The next morning headlines screamed, "Cerebral stroke paralyses indian steel.There were detailed stories about the kinds of cerebral stroke that were common.And those that were not common.How high blood pressure could lead to incidence of stroke.A healthy lifestyle was advised and optimum exercise prescibed.The next day saw newer headlines, "Steel Baron was exemplary citizen.The story that followed put Melvin Sen on a pedestal and lionized him.Lionized him like there was no tomorrow.More developments followed on the morrow.Five men visited the newspaper offices and claimed be Melvin Sen's sons.From his first secret marriage they said.
Melvin was initially on life support.Unknown to all the busybodies of the world he was responding to treatment.From the fourth day onwards all hell broke loose.Arin Sen had given a phone interview to a daily proclaiming that he was going to take over Indian Steel Group any moment.On the fifth day three senior managers of ISG wrote a letter to a leading news channel claiming that the company was on the brink of bankruptcy.More drama was left though.On day six,as Arin Sen walked into his father's cabin he got the shock of his life.Mr Melvin Sen was sitting on his bed sipping tea.He had had a mild stroke.But by this morning he was fully fit,cent per cent conscious.
