The Time Saver

Chinks nicked
here and there
fell amongst the change
he couldn't pocket -
should have spent it.
Enjoyed odd stolen moments -
could have, should have
organized the units, hours better -
minutes,
seconds -
would have
used them kindly -
dealt them wisely,
but frittered
they slipped
through fingers -
hour-glass style.
Out of hands
time lands in heaps
like salt, like sand;
uncertain
pointers spin around
the clock
at a rate of knots -
All he knew was
there was plenty
when he started,
but what there was,
got lost, or wasted - taken
from the lazy -
and he was.
Meant to heal,
its lack hurt.
Looking back
he saw he never appreciated
how very short
he was -
till now -
Seconds flown.
He'd had it.
Time tells, and it did -
It said,
he'd raced against the good,
the bad, the best, the worst,
and fallen
by the wayside.
He'd never had enough,
but time had

If only those lost moments
If only those lost moments could be retrieved, but then I suppose that is part of life 'if only'
So beautifully and succinctly put.

Well put, clever piece, Bee
Like an addictive drug, no matter how much time we have, it's never enough.

Hello dear Bee,
Hello dear Bee,
I see you haven't wasted your time. Another good piece from you. The shortened stanzas towards the end seem to illustrate how time flies. Well, that's how it struck me.
Always in my thoughts
