Primeval

In another world I didn't know the words I said.
Which shattered any chance at reconciliation.
I never feared emotions,
I found comfort winning a battle.
I never got angry.
I stood young and dumb
on the same ground a primeval once stood.
As he gasped at a gigantic plant
felt his way back home through a sand storm,
hunted dinosaur- walked fearless.
In a time before anything had a soul,
I couldn't feel.
As he never knew why he kissed the girl
he has children with.
We never grew away from each other
because moving wasn't an option
in a world where giant lizards patrolled
the land searching for meat.
He never heard
the half-intimate calls from his mother
in-between the grunting and screeching
that was speech.
Life was just a cycle,
not enough time to reminisce,
living fast- hand to mouth.
Standing here,
on the same ground the primeval stood.
I can only hum and motion the vowels
I've lost the ability to combine into words,
and point at the gigantic insects as they pass-
warning you.
