A christmas tree's christmas

the christmas tree filled the room
from floor to ceiling
wall to wall
dying slowly
in a pail
like old fashions
at the mall
gifts a plenty
at his feet
piling higher
week by week
On his brow he wears
an angel
champion of ornaments
proud and tall
yet he seems sad
like the garland wrapped round
smothering his lush green limbs
A Christmas tree's Christmas
is not so great
it shortens his life
and changes his fate
So next year I hope
the celebration is grand!
dance and be merry
sing and be gay!
but i hope you all
get a plastic tree
for Christmas day
