This little girl is visiting her grandfather who died only 2 weeks
ago. She felt so close to him. The way he used to let her sit on his
lap and tell her stories of his war against the Germans. The little
girl lets her hot tears run down her soft cheeks She can not believe
that it was the Sunday before last that he died of a heart attack and
now it is Tuesday and she is visiting his grave in the cemmatery on
Smith Street.
It is quiet beautiful and cheerful place but as she picks a blue bell
she suddenly feels the pain of all the people who have visited.
She smells the blue bell. How beautiful she thinks. There are so so
many. She hears a little Robyn sitting in a tree. She looks up and
smiles, remembering that Robyns were Grandpapa's favourite bird. She
reaches into her torn dresses pocket and finds a cracker. She breaks it
in half and feeds it to the little bird.
Her family was never wealthy, infact they were very poor. She took more
Blue bells and places them on her grandfathers grave. She reads the
years he lived which was 1901 to 2001.
He was a very old and lived a good life. She cheers up a little and as
she and the little Robyn on her shoulder leave the Grave yard. She
looks forward to going home.
