SILVER ONE (IP)

Now it's time once again
for Santa Claus to be put away
Little specs
on your red nose
rosey cheeks
aglow
White moustache
long silver locks
I wish I had to
The snowy moustache
that tickles you
as your head nods
hands waving
a pine cone
on your back
carrying an empty sack
In your silver suit
of a whirly design
black boots
that need a shine
Your smiley face
and your pose
of sitting on the mantlepiece
or ledge
swinging your legs
May all the wishes granted
come true
to you and you
The key is underneath your bottom
when I wound
the tune it plays is rotten
"The tears of a clown"
as you rock side to side
Fancy playing that at christmas time
even when I was small
I always taught to leave you a mince pie
a glass of milk
Thought I heard you
come down the chimney
covered in soot
But I have another
Santa Claus to
hanging up high
as he is in a parachute
ready to fly through the air
Through the atmosphere
of a pink pearly sky
a big full moon
bursting with halo rings
The twinkly tree
of coloured automatic lights
must all come down by to-night
As I take all the cards down
even if I have to use
a long coat hanger
to reach up high
I will look and read
and keep the golden memories
of everyone
