The Gods of Selfies

Gods of selfies lets you rip yourself in two
Make yourself anew
Like a river bursting its banks
And the sky licked ashore
You were pure as snow
Slapdash wild spring
People in the street laughed daintly
Cause I ran after and loved you so crazily
Not all things stay silent
The melancholic steal of withdrawal
Ebb-and-flow of blackness on a ledge you endlessly fed
Your crumpled old rage became a jagged dread
You said. You said. You said.
Give it all a rest
Soft and adrift as winter snow
Your pregnant face aglow

So much great stuff in this!
So much great stuff in this! Gods of selfies, what an interesting/scary thought. I loved "sky licked shore" too. And "Slapdash wild Spring"! BRILLIANT! And the part with the ledge is strongly nightmarish, then "soft and adrift as Winter snow" beautiful.
And through it all, a relationship. I love your poems :0)

Pick of the Day
A wonderful poem about the joy, pain and wildness of love, which is why it's our Facebook, X and Bluesky Pick of the Day. Please do share!

The gods of selfies don't
The gods of selfies don't know what they've done. The third stanza dark and brooding then the last smoothing everything like a fresh fall of snow. Where there is ebb and flow, there's hope, I hope.

Bleak and Beautiful
Such a good poem CM; the way you use language to create the imagery of the sense of loss and regret; a trully worthy pick plus golden cherries.

The poetry from up North there, gets better, finer, deeper, powerful, moving, soulful.... & still got that edgy humor... #Excellent Celt....

There's nothing quite like a bit of love for ripping yourself in two and making yourself anew.
