SECRET GIRL
Sometimes,
the sunlight catches you
and magic stirs.
Your laughter spins a charm
upon the air,
slipping on its current
like a butterfly.
And, as delicate,
you flit and weave,
dancing through the reels of days,
blissfully aware of life,
of friends,
of hope,
of dreams,
of love.
Yet there’s a depth in you
no sun can reach,
no seer dares to delve:
an island, dense and harbourless.
And where waves break
you wait alone
softly, sadly calling for the one
who never hears
and never comes.

Charlie, you write very well. And this is a great poem. Wistful without a maudlin attitude. Realistic in a unique way. And develop your own niche. In the past, when I wrote, I tried to copy someone else's style, until my mentor, Raymond Souster told me to be myself. Keep it up. Richard LP
