You are the part of me

who stays behind

after I have gone,

the part of me

who keeps us close

to the place we call home,

the freer one

who calls to my heart

when I have been away too long,

the healer

who breathes fresh air

into my tainted soul,

the guide

who puts me straight

when I have taken the wrong turn.

   Old friend -

   meet me at our favourite spot.
