phantom pain: and the emotional destruction that comes with the cutting of a relation between yourself & one that you loved does not leave you---it throbs, it echoes in your physical body, it aches, it sears, and just when you think that you can take off the bandage because it has healed, it comes back ten fold. you can be walking along in the most beautiful of days, where the leaves that have changed reflect the sun in such a way that for one brief moment you are able to forget all the horrible things in the world, but it slaps you upside the head with images, sounds, expressions from the faces that you thought had long gone away & with the accompaniment of anxious terror like the pins & needles of a horror film creeping up your neck, your heart races---the pain is a ghost in the form of a daymare memory that burns inside your head directly behind your retina & it will not cease, it will not give you any peace, it will not go away.
how to get rid of phantom pain: go to the kitchen & get a grapefruit spoon (you know, the kind with the serrated edge, the kind that is used to tear the flesh of the fruit away in the attempt to get the juicy part). after you have acquired the spoon, sit down in front of a large mirror. here is where it gets tricky. you understand that there is no other way to get rid of the throbbing in your head---you must do your best to gut it out. so with all the determination that you could possibly muster, you stand in front of that mirror, holding the serrated edge up to the bottom of your eye. you know how this story ends. do it---win the fight against yourself & end the memory that has been heckling you. end it dead.
