the stirring
By delapruch
- 337 reads
a man who has worked all his life
in one capacity or another
defining himself as a worker
taking his place in the greater scheme
feeling comfortable in the choice
then
nose to the
grindstone
nose to the
grindstone
until one day
the ability to work may no longer be there
as the body does not succumb to the labor
forced upon it
regardless of what society deems the status quo to
be---
(work until you die because of
some sick system set up
prior to your own entrance into it.)
the stirring begins when the routine is broke
order that was there before has left
replaced with an absence of what once defined
leaving the individual to move round his dwelling
frantically
looking for work
looking for something that will redefine him
as time drips through his fingers.
others close to him
if he is lucky enough to still have people alive to be
close
watch him stir
like a bird in a cage who flutters but cannot
leave &
the bars encroach slowly
on their way to eventually strangling the last bits of
life
from him.
