for those that do because they have to

and because they can’t sleep much at night
because these thoughts are stirring in their head whether it’s dark or sunlight
because the people that dislike what it is that they sing, that they write, that they paint, that they fashion at all---would like them dead
and because whatever a “normal” life to somebody else just won’t suffice
and because no matter how many times they try and turn away
they come right back to it---like a moth fluttering round a light
and because they can’t get enough, because it makes them happy inside
because by pushing their art outside of their hearts and their minds---this is how they survive
because it’s more than a “hobby” or “something they do on the side”
because it’s what makes them who they are---not their job, their friends, their family or any other part of their life
because anyone who really knows them would understand that if they didn’t have this they’d have a gun in their hands---and that they’d be spraying lead non-stop until somebody ended them
because it’s the only way to make sense of the world around them
because they don’t wear it on their shoulder---it’s tattooed on their head
because you can see it in their eyes when they open them
because while some run to escape through other means, you know in one brief conversation with them that this is all they fucking need
because no matter what you try and do to them they will not stop what they’re doing until there is no blood left in them to bleed
