My little boy once begged of me,
"Leave the light on."
I listened to the heartfelt plea
of my young son.
I told him. "Night is not to fear.
Be brave my dear, I shall be near."
He cried. "But Mom, my brave's all gone.
Leave the light on."
Now a young man, he likes to be
always long gone.
At night, he struggles with his key.
The beer has won.
I stumble sleepy to the door
and beg, "Don't do this anymore!"
He cries. "Then, don't forget your son!
Leave the light on."
