The First Hug

When I look back at when we first met
When I take a look into those memories
Of you and me back then
When I try to understand
How and why it all began
Why it worked so well
From the start of it all
I remember clearly
The first hug.

When I think of the day, at school
Where we gazed, upon each others eyes
For the very first time
Its not the look,
Its not the smile
That turns my head
Spinning like a rollercoaster
I remember clearly
The first Hug.

The day I walked you home, in the rain
Outside your parents house
We stood and spoke
About everything and nothing
Then the talking stopped
The earth stood still
Just for a moment
I remember clearly
The first Hug.

And now with age and you fading fast
My heart is filled with emotion
As I look at you again
As if its the first time
I gather you up
Knowing that it may be
The last one of all
I want to remember
My final Hug.
