My Early Morning Postman

My Postman comes at six each morn
He's done that since my dog was born
My dog's now four and starts to bite
My poor Postman who then takes flight
Along our path and through the gate
He shuts it fast, the dog can't wait
To have a go through bits of wood
And bark aloud where he once stood
He's got the scent, then he's away
To get the sod and make him pay
For waking him at early doors
He snarls a bit then puts up paws
Postmans cornered no where to run
He's frightened now, this isn't fun
The dog jumps up and clouts him hard
Good right hook caught him off guard
A left paw pokes him in the eye
Poor Postman yells and starts to cry
"Please get this dog away from me"
"My eyebrows cut and I can't see"
"Before I do you've got to say
"You'll come another time of day"
"Agreed" he says "Just tell me when"
My Postman now just comes at ten!
